About the Designer - Bio of Jade Kang

Born and raised in Korea, Jade Kang studied Fine Arts and Fashion Design in his home city of Seoul. A signature style of diversified tailoring, futuristic urban femininity and contemporary romanticism developed early on, leading him to take the role of Senior Designer for leading Korean fashion label Koogi from 1997-2000 and later as Creative Designer for Mool Ltd until 2002 when he left Korea.

Jade Kang ventured to London in 2002, graduating from London College of Fashion in 2005 to critical acclaim. Upon graduating Jade worked for Giles at Giles Deacon Studios on his 2006/2007 collections. Head hunted by Melt London in 2006 Jade was asked to take on the entire Design Range for Melt London’s 2007/2008 collections. Jade’s formidable skills also as a Pattern Cutter led to associated work with Alexander McQueen and Jonathan Saunders for their 2008 collections.

Known in fashion circles for his wild ‘big’ hair masking a delicate ‘small’ ego this edgy designer transformed his inner rebel into an outer uptown label by unleashing his own design culture in 2007. Inspired by the heritage and strength of his imperial Korean family name, from this major player in the London Fashion scene, JADE KANG was born.

At its essence,JADE KANG bares the creation of a new urban retro-futuristic image inspired by the photography of Man Ray. Designing for the modern affluent contemporary woman, fabrics and textures are matched to contrast yet complement each other. Colours that nature designed to oppose, Jade brings together in complete synergy.
